Raised in South Texas and shaped by its strong sense of community and family, Alex Gonzalez has applied these values to the relationships he cultivates and the roles he has held throughout 27 years in banking. Crediting these South Texas values for allowing him to adapt and grow in several bank departments, Alex has worked in branch banking, private banking, business banking, and commercial banking throughout his career. He shares what energizes him about working with the Austin business community, what it means to him to be at a local bank, and his new role as Senior Vice President, Private and Commercial Banking.
What is your specialty professionally, and how do you serve your clients through your position at The Bank of Austin?
I enjoy assisting our clients to achieve their entrepreneurial dreams through relationship banking by being a partner and advisor as they grow their businesses. As a private banker, we can continue to help our business owners build long-term wealth and plan for the future.
What are your activities and hobbies outside of work?
I like to run, golf, and watch football on the weekends. I have been a runner for most of my life and enjoy the health benefits associated with the sport. I also enjoy driving out to the hill country on the weekends to explore the beauty that nature provides us in Central Texas.
Which community organizations are you involved with?
I have been a supporter of Emancipet, which offers accessible veterinary services for community members. We share the same values and believe that every pet needs and deserves high-quality veterinary care to keep them healthy and happy for their entire lives.
What inspires you about working in Austin?
Austin has grown so much since I moved here, with many different people and cultures. I get to work with various business owners and industries, from technology to healthcare, to retail and real estate. Austin is a unique melting pot, and I am inspired to work with a diverse group of companies and business owners.
